The words "affiliated" and "subsidiary" you chose are close to you what you mean in your Chinese statement.  However, they do have some difference in ownership:
Affiliate: 
  has a  minor share of its stocks controlled by the main company. 
Subsidiary:
 its parent company is a majority shareholder, can even own the entire subsidiary company.  
With the above explanation the difference in ownership, your #2 sentence is what you want.  After all, in such a situation, this elementary school will fully own and operate its subsidiary preschool.

為什麼常常看到 something else 
不能直接打 something 嗎?
他們之間有甚麼差別?
else（其它、另外）就是用來強調的，只有something也正確，但不夠好，else可以凸顯那一段文字中那個不對勁的something有多麼突兀。
問2.
不能caught [] something else that didn't seem right.這樣子嗎?
這是被動式的分詞構句，她是「被」那個不對勁的東西引起注意，不是她去吸引那個東西，而被動式的基本型態之一就是Be.V+過去分詞+"by"，分詞構句則會在逗點後只保留過去分詞+"by"。

rimmed 為什麼後面要接 by 
這也是被動式，Be.V+過去分詞+"by"。

It is fun.應該用現在簡單式，因為那個表演應該一直都是有趣的。
